6 robbers pounce on Sanhanga Centre

MUTARE- Six unidentified robbers pounced on Sanhanga Business Centre in Mutare on Monday night
and got away with property worth US$5 700.
Police confirmed the robbery and said Daniel Matsotse (27) and Farai Munjoma(28) who are employed
as security guards were on duty when the robbers attacked.
“Matsotse was unarmed. The six robbers approached him armed with a golf stick and assaulted him. He
was then force marched to the main entrance where Munjoma was stationed. The robbers manhandled
the two and tied their hands with shoelaces," said Manicaland provincial police spokesperson, Inspector
Nobert Muzondo.
He said the gang stole one 12 volts and one 48 volt lithium batteries, one 5kvq inverter, one 1.5 kva
inverter and an itel cellphone. They also broke into the safe and took US$2 915 cash.
The total value of stolen goods amounted to US$5 725.
The security guards later untied themselves and made a report at Mutare Central Police Station.
Police who attended the scene discovered the robbers had used a bolt cutter to cut down the main
screen gate.
Police have urged businesses to employ robust security measures like arming their security guards and
installing security aides like closed circuit television to avoid loss of valuable property to robbers.
