Dumped Foetus Found Floating in River

MUTARE- Police in Mutare are investigating a case of concealment of birth after a foetus
was found floating in a river in Mutare.
A foetus was found floating in Chinyausunzi river in the high density suburb of Sakubva, last
week.
Rachel Tenesi (34), a resident of Sakubva made the grim discovery while she was tending to
her garden.
Tenesi then informed her husband, David Kanyemba of the discovery and alerted the police.
The police retrieved the foetus and sent it to Victoria Chitepo Hospital for post mortem as
investigations are in progress.
Manicaland deputy police spokesperson, Assistant Wiseman Chinyoka confirmed the
incident and urged the public to desist from unlawful termination of pregnancy and baby
dumping.
“We are investigating a case of unlawful termination of pregnancy. Cases of baby dumping
and concealment of birth are quite disturbing and we urge women to try as much as possible
to avoid unwanted pregnancies, said Ass Insp Chinyoka.
