TWO armed robbers recently appeared before the Bindura Magistrates’ Court after they
robbed four Valley Mine employees at gunpoint in August.
The two accused persons, Dzikamai Sibanda (35) of Tagarika Flats, Mbare in Harare and
Kudzaishe Ruzvidzo of Ruzvidzo Village, Chief Nemangwe, Gokwe, pleaded not guilty
when they appeared before Bindura Magistrate, Amos Mubobo, who remanded them to 14
December.
Because of the gravity of their offence the two were denied bail by the court and were
remanded in custody.
Edward Katsvairo, for the State, told the court that on 11 August at Valley Mine, in Mazowe,
Sibanda and Ruzvidzo acting in connivance with Rodwell Chatyora, Dickson Dube and
Talent Mashoko, who are still at large went to the mine armed with a pistol.
While at the mine, they force-marched four employees and compelled them, at gunpoint, to
open the carbon room.
Learning that there were no keys Chatyora took a hammer from his car which was used to
forcibly open the locks of the carbon room in order to gain entry.
The employees loaded the carbons in four sacks, took 4x50kg Caustic Soda sacks and ferried
them to Chatyora’s motor vehicle and drove away.
