Two die in road accident
KWEKWE – A Honda Fit driver and a passenger died on the spot when it rammed into a truck at the
193km peg along Harare-Bulawayo Road last Thursday evening.
The deceased were identified as the driver as Trymore Bernard and a female passenger Linda Dhiri,
of Glen Norah, Harare.
The two succumbed to serious head injuries.
Assistant Inspector Fungai Ngawagare said on November 24, Douglas Murambasvina (42) of
Marondera was driving a Mercedes Benz 2540 truck, towing a trailer.
“On approaching the 193km peg, a Honda Fit registration number AFE 4821 which was being driven
by Trymore Bernard suddenly made a right turn and encroached into Douglas Murambatsvina’s lane.
“As a result, the Honda Fit was hit on the left side by the truck and was dragged for about 100
metres,” said Asst. Insp. Ngawagare.
As a result of the accident, Bernard and Dhiri sustained serious head injuries and they died on the
spot. The bodies were taken to Kwekwe District Hospital mortuary awaiting post mortem.
“Once again, the ZRP is urging motorists to exercise extra caution when driving during the night and
to always drive with due care and attention,” said the acting provincial police spokesperson.
