Man (19) stabbed to death for stealing clothes
ZHOMBE – Police in Zhombe has launched a manhunt for a 19-year-old man who fatally stabbed his
friend whom he accused of stealing his clothes at their Sidhaka Village, under Chief Ntabeni Zhombe
on December 1.
Acting Provincial Community Relations Liaison Officer Assistant Inspector Fungai Ngawagare
confirmed the incident in which the suspect Zivanai Maphosa is on the police wanted list for the
alleged murder of Confidence Mpofu (19).
On the fateful day at around 4:30pm, Maphosa approached Mpofu who was with Worship Ncube
and accused him of stealing his clothes.
As a result, an altercation ensued between the two resulting in the suspect withdrawing a knife from
his pockets and allegedly stabbed Maphosa once on the left side of the chest and ran away.
Mpofu succumbed to the stab wound on the spot and a report was made to the police. His body is at
Kwekwe General Hospital awaiting post mortem.
“The suspect is still at large and police are appealing to members of the public with any information
that may assist in the arrest of the suspect to approach any nearest police station.
“The public is once again encouraged to desist from resorting to violence as a means to solve
disputes,” said Asst. Insp. Ngawagare.
