Police identify Kwekwe accident victims


ZHOMBE – The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has identified six people who were killed in a fatal
road accident at the 60km peg along the Kwekwe-Gokwe road last Saturday afternoon.
In a statement, ZRP Senior Staff Officer (Press and Public Relations) Assistant Commissioner Paul
Nyathi said the deceased were positively identified by their next of kin.
The deceased include a 17-year-old juvenile Beula Ndebele of Jojo Village in Zhombe. There were
two other people from the same village namely Nathan Maphosa (65) and Moleen Ndlovu (64).
The others are Francis Shayauno Mapuranga (38), Earnest Chireya (35) both of Shayauno Village,
Gokwe North and Patrick Bhasopo (28) of Redcliff.
President Emmerson Mnangagwa in his condolence message said the deceased will be offered a
State assisted burial.
Meanwhile, Asst. Comm. Nyathi urged motorists to exercise extreme caution on the road to avoid
unnecessary loss of lives.
“The Zimbabwe Republic Police urges motorists to be patient on the roads and stop driving against
the flow of traffic or one way.
“Above all, motorists should maintain the required braking distance when driving and follow all road
rules and regulations to avoid unnecessary loss of lives on the roads,” said the ZRP Senior Staff
