Fight Over Beer Mug Ends In Tragedy

MUTARE- A brawl over a beer mug ended tragically last week in Chipinge after a 25-year-old
man was stabbed to death.
Carlos Mabharera was pronounced dead upon arrival at St Peters Hospital after he sustained a
deep cut on the cheek from a knife stabbing by Progress Muyambo (18).
Manicaland police spokesperson, Nobert Muzondo confirmed the incident which happened at Da
Place Night Club, Checheche Business Center in Chipinge.
Muyambo was drinking beer with Mabharera and Takunda Bhunu when the trio had a quarrel
over a beer mug.
Mabherera alleged that the beer mug had been stolen and a fight ensued resulting in Muyambo
drawing an okapi knife from his trousers stabbing Mabharera once on the left cheek and Bhunu
once on the right shoulder and once on the back.
“Mabharera fell and bled profusely. The two were ferried to St Peters Hospital where Mabharera
was pronounced dead on arrival. Bhunu was seriously wounded and is currently admitted at the
hospital,” said Insp Muzondo.
Police are currently looking for Muyambo who immediately fled the scene of crime.
Inspector Muzondo appealed to members of the public with information leading to Muyambo’s
arrest to contact the nearest police station.
He also urged members of the public to settle arguments amicably and avoid resorting to
violence.
