Gebhuza High school earned highest point during Environmental Quiz which was hosted by
Shangano Arts Trust during the Shangano festival recently.
Gebhuza High School earned 310 points followed by Chilisa Secondary and Kalope Secondary School.
The quiz show which ran with the theme My Environment, My Responsibility was meant to educate
the school learners about environment and conservation.
The Shangano Arts Director Petros Ndlovu said the quiz was also meant to put the environmental
issues at grass roots level.
“The mantra of catch them young in environmental issues is very essential. We need to instill
knowledge of environmental conservation when there are still young,” said Ndlovu.
“The children need to know what are the environmental child rights, such topics make the young
ones connected to environmental issues hence they will have the zeal to protect the environment.”
he said.
Meanwhile the learners who were present during the quiz show were encouraged to conserve the
environment.
“As they are growing they should have the right to clean water, right to clean environment, right to
health and right to clean sanitation .” he said.
A total of five schools participated on the show and Dadani College and Hwange High school were
part of the competitors.
