A rather sleepy town when it comes to entertainment is finally awakening after the Hwange star
bright finalist has taken the entertainment industry by storm.
Rachel Njomboro also known as Rashyn has been making waves in Hwange after becoming the first
girl child to represent Hwange and Matebeleland North.
She recently launched an Acoustic session where she performs live shows and her live performances
has attracted a number of people from all walks of life.
She says her performance is a way of sending messages that empower youths and also seeks to find
hidden talent.
“I’m trying to bring an empowerment message to the ladies around the Hwange community also
spreading it to the young people that they should show case their talent which will help us as youths
to run away from negative things that is drug and substance abuse as we have formulated
something to keep us entertained,” she said.
The launch of Rachel Rashyn’s acoustic session was launched on October 30 and it is a weekly
session that is performed from 6-8 pm every Sunday at Four Fingers in the mining town of Hwange.
“Acoustic session is all about having fun, showing people that we don’t need a full band sometimes
to have a band. We usually play copy right and the original music and mostly played by a guitar and
people singing along,” said Rachel.
She also expressed gratitude from the way the local people are responding to her music.
Rashyn is challenging the elders in the community to offer guidance to youngsters rather than
abusing them sexually.
“The elders should also play their part by protecting us youngsters. I’m also trying to show that I’m a
woman and that a woman is also capable of doing music and there is no book written that women
can’t do music. I would like to thank the owner of Four Fingers Mr Lunga for allowing me to do this
acoustic session,” she said.
Meanwhile, Rashyn has written and recorded a track called Ngoro Yerudo which has gone viral on
social media,.
She first composed single tracks in 2021 and the tracks entitled Shaina and Chishamiso which were
