THE Minister of Local Government and Public Works, July Moyo, has approved Chiredzi Rural District Council (RDC)’s $7 billion budget for 2023. The budget rose from $1, 2 billion last year mainly due to inflation.
Key items in the budget include service delivery and road maintenance.
Chiredzi RDC Chief Executive, Ailes Baloyi, said the budget was attainable and
realistic as it was a continuation of the projects that were underway in the 2022
budget.
Baloyi said there was need to provide refuse collection at some fast growing
business centres in the district that include Mkwasine, Chikombedzi and Chilonga.
The Finance Committee chairperson, Alderman Munyengeri Murawo, hailed the
Local Government Minister for speedily approving the budget, adding that this
would enable the local authority to start programmes and projects right from the
beginning of the year. – ZIS
