SHURUGWI — A local man is alleged to have brutally murdered his former wife with a chisel in a
suspected crime of passion.
Rangarirai Mukoko (48) of Mutamba Village under Chief Nhema had been asking for reconciliation
with Lubitsi Mubita (31) after he could not stomach the love of his life staying with another man.
Police said Mubita’s body was found lying in a pool of blood in her bedroom on January 10 in the
early hours of the morning.
Midlands police spokesperson Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko said Mubita’s body was discovered by
her new husband Lawrence Hungwe (48) when he arrived home from a visit.
“Her ex-husband, Mukoko has been picked up as a suspect following information that he was seen in
the area the same morning. Information has it that he had been pushing for a reconciliation with
Mubita,” Insp. Mahoko said.
Mubita had stab wounds all over the body.
“A blood-stained chisel suspected to have been used in the commission of the offence was
recovered from Mukoko and police investigation are underway,” he said.
The woman’s body is being held at Shurugwi District Hospital mortuary to await post mortem.
He appealed to the public to desist from resorting to violence when solving their disputes as it
normally leads to unnecessary loss of life.
