Zvishavane man dies after car crashes into river

ZVISHAVANE — A 27-year-old man allegedly died while trapped in his vehicle which plunged into
Ngezi River Bridge on January 13.
Midlands police confirmed that Albert Tafa of Eastlea in Zvishavane was retrieved from the vehicle
by members of the police’s sub-aqua unit, while Blessing Mano (24) is admitted at Zvishavane
District Hospital, where his condition is critical.
On the fateful day at about 740pm, Tafa was driving a white Toyota Corolla motor vehicle along
Masvingo-Mbalabala Road. On approaching the 117km peg at Ngezi River Bridge, he lost control of
the vehicle and it veered off the road to the right thereby hitting a pedestrian Blessing Mano of
Bakazi Mine Compound. The motor vehicle fell into Ngezi River.
Mano sustained serious injuries and was referred to Zvishavane District Hospital where he is
admitted.
Zvishavane Traffic Police attended the scene. The police’s Sub Aqua unit searched for the motor
vehicle in the river and it was retrieved the following day.
Tafa’s lifeless body was found trapped inside the motor vehicle.
The body was taken to Zvishavane District Hospital to await post mortem.
