NAC golf tourney to raise US$60k for cancer equipment

Harare (New Ziana) -Preparations at an advanced stage for 7th edition of HIV And Cancer Prevention Drive Pro-Am golf tournament National AIDS Council (NAC) organises every year to raise funds for cancer medicines and equipment.

At least 60 professional golfers are expected to tee it up at Royal Harare Golf Club on March 17 with organisers expecting to raise at least US$60 000.

In a statement, NAC said the objective of the golf tournament is to raise a minimum of US$60 000.00 to procure cancer medicines and equipment for organizations that are fighting cancer in different capacities.

Organizations to benefit from the proceeds of the golf tournament include the Island Hospice and Healthcare, KIDZCAN, the Cancer Association of Zimbabwe, HOSPAZ and the Zimbabwe Cancer Registry.

“The tournament also aims to raise awareness on HIV and Cancer prevention among golfers and general public and provide a platform to market your products and services,” said NAC.

The NAC has been backing local golf over the years including bankrolling a number of tournaments and fund raising occasions in partnership with the Zimbabwe Golf Association.

Previous NAC fundraising golf tournaments raised resources which include 16 cancer screening machines donated to the Ministry of Health and Child Care for distribution to rural health centres across the country in 2018.
