MVUMA – As police intensify their operation against drug and substance abuse, a 28-year-old man
from Athens Mine in Mvuma was arrested for possessing 582 grammes of dagga and 26 sachets of
Crystal Methamphetamine.
Jaison Chida appeared in court last week and was sentenced to 12 months in prison for possession
of dangerous drugs.
Midlands police spokesperson Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko said Chida was arrested after he was
found in possession of dagga and sachets of Crystal Methamphetamine which were found after a
search was conducted at his home in Mvuma.
The police was granted a search warrant by a Mvuma Magistrate which resulted in the recovery of
dagga, sachets Methamphetamine used in the processing of drugs, 100ml empty bottles of
broncleer and a digital portable scale used to weigh drugs, he said.
Police applauded the public for supporting the police in their operation against drugs through
offering information and tip offs leading to arrest of offenders.
Meanwhile, the police has launched an anti-drugs operation where they are conducting serious drug
search in vehicles, schools, communities and various institutions so as to curb the spread of drugs
and drug abuse in the country.
