Harare (New Ziana) -Processing of nomination papers for candidates aspiring to contest in 46 wards in the capital at the Harare magistrates court was moving at a snails’ pace on Wednesday with poor lighting worsening the situation.

After submission of nomination papers closed at 4 PM, time was spent correcting minor mistakes on the documents with ZEC officials using their mobile phones to get better vision as darkeness approached.

By 8 PM scores of aspiring candidates were still milling around Town house waiting for officials to announce whether their nominations had been accepted.

In Bulawayo the process also went on into the night largely due to the delay by CCC aspiring candidates who spent most of the day waiting for their papers which were being signed in Harare.

There was high turnout of aspiring legislators from various political parties who wanted to submit their papers to contest in 12 seats up for grabs in Bulawayo Metropolitan.

The nomination court was sitting at Treadgold Magistrates Court.

There was however some confusion as some municipal candidates turned up at magistrates nomination court instead of the council chambers.

CCC candidates said they were still waiting for their papers which were being signed in Harare.

Zanu PF candidate for Cowdry Park who is also Finance and Economic Development Minister Professor Mthuli Ncube successfully filed his nomination papers.
