KARIBA- A veteran soccer coach who has been roving in out of the country, has so far
signed with two different clubs within six months.
Vahombe, as Luke Masomere, is nicknamed joins Premier Soccer League (PSL) ZPC
Kariba, after quitting Eastern Region Division One side Mutare City Rovers, five months
after he was appointed as their head coach.
Masomere confirmed in a telephone interview that he has signed a new contract with
ZPC Kariba.
“Yes, it is true. I will be with ZPC Kariba starting on Monday and will be based in
Kariba,” he said.
The veteran soccer coach takes over from Darlington Dodo who quit ZPC Kariba in May
to join new premier league boys Greenfuel as an assistant to Rodwell Dhlakama.
Masomere left the Mutare owned club at a time when they were on forth position,
fighting hard to get promotion into Premier Soccer League.
Mutare City Rovers has with immediate effect appointed their club assistant coach,
Chasten Ngondonga, as the interim head coach and he will be assisted by Shepherd
Muradzikwa. Peter Masibhera remains as goalkeepers’ coach.
At ZPC Kariba Masomere is likely to work with Newsome Mtema, who has been the
team interim coach.
Masomere is most likely to attract more support at Kariba side since most of the border
town soccer lover had already started posting messages welcoming the new coach.
Masomere may appear to have been promoted but the tough task of gaining
championship which he left in Mutare could be the same at Kariba since the new side is
also battling to survive relegation from PSL.
ZPC Kariba has so far played 12 games and is on third from last and PSL usually
relegates four teams at the end of the season.
