
Pope Francis appoints Father Eusebius Nyathi to lead Gokwe diocese

Pope Francis on Friday named Hwange priest Father
Eusebius Jelous Nyathi as the next Bishop of Gokwe Diocese.
The Bishop-elect will succeed Bishop Rudolph Nyandoro who was moved to Gweru Diocese
in September 2020.
A statement by the Apostolic Nunciature said: “The Holy Father has appointed the Rev
Eusebius Jelous Nyathi, of the clergy of Hwange, until now Rector of the National Major
Seminary Sts. John Fisher and Thomas More, as Bishop of Gokwe.”
Fr Nyathi joined Mazowe Minor Seminary in 1995 and was ordained priest in 2004 and has
been a Rector at Chishawasha Major Seminary since last year.
The Bishop elect studied Pastoral Theology in Spain.
