GWANDA-The Veterinary Services Department has invested more than US$100 000
in a relief grazing area in a bid to save over 20 000 cattle, a senior Government
official has confirmed.
The Sibasa fodder relief grazing area covers 20 hectares under irrigation by flooding
and is expected to cushion livestock from effects of dry seasons.
Matabeleland South Department of Veterinary Services Provincial head, Dr Enat
Mdlongwa, said the Patana relief grazing areas seeks to save a number of livestock
drawn from Gwanda district.
“Having realised that pastures are a major challenge in Matabeleland South
especially in Gwanda, Beitbridge and Plumtree districts, the department decided to
invest in relief grazing area."
