CHEGUTU- THE Ministry of Health and Child Welfare is still conducting vaccination
exercises in a bid to try and protect citizens from the deadly pandemic.
From January 3, 2020 to Wednesday last week, June 21, 2023, Zimbabwe had
registered 265 413 confirmed cases of Covid-19 with 5 707 deaths reported to the
World Health Organisation (WHO).
As of Sunday, June 18, 2023 a total of 13 935 112 vaccine does had been
administered.
The vaccination exercise now targeting people from the ages of 12 has led health
teams to visit Primary and Secondary schools to vaccinate learners.
Health workers visited schools in Chegutu and positive response has been
witnessed as parents are allowing their children to receive the vaccination.
At Hartley 2 Primary School, 92 children received their doses on Wednesday June
21, with 31 getting the first dose and 61 getting the second dose, the headmistress,
Elizabeth Mpambwa, said.
The health team has been visiting the school from time to time to vaccinate against
Covid-19, with all citizens being encouraged to visit health centres and get
vaccinated so as to protect their health and lives from the deadly pandemic as all
doses are available at health facilities.
Covid-19 at some point left a trail of devastation with all families affected or aware of
neighbours or colleagues having experienced the loss of their loved ones.
