CITIZENS’ Coalition for Change Mayors, Collen Maboke for Masvingo City Council
and Gibson Hwende for Chiredzi Town Council, both eyeing parliamentary seats, on
Wednesday filed their papers as independents after failing to make their party
selection.
In an interview after filing his papers, Hwende vying Chiredzi Central said he is going
to represent the people as he was selected by the people.
“Our greatest political party are the people of Chiredzi Central. So we had to engage
our political party who are the people, the citizens, the masses and they said we did
not reject you but you were rejected by certain individuals so we kindly request for
you to stand for us. So, I’m standing for my political party which is the people of
Chiredzi Central,” he said.
He said the nomination process went well and smoothly as there were no hiccups
and is confident that he will be on the ballot paper.
Meanwhile, Maboke vying for a Masvingo Urban seat, confirmed that he filed his
papers and he will run solo.
