Gwanda residents were last week treated to a fresh and melodious hit gospel song
by resident artist, Kay Kid-Umfanomsotho, born Nkosiphile Dewa.
Titled Ithemba Lami, the song is a sing along that is certain to become a lullaby in
many homes.
The song went viral after its release on the social media and has been being played
at several music outlets across the gold mining town of Gwanda where it is being
replayed in many shops.
It is a song inviting the creator's grace and was produced by DJ Drumz, who featured
Thuba Mafela, while international standard videography was by Africulture and
directed by Motion Culture in Elliot Bridge, Tuli River.
Kay-Kid Umfanomsotho (21) ventured into the music industry during his school days,
earning trademark by his unique genre dubbed “Umculo Wasekhaya” (Songs from
rural areas).
Ithemba lami is a new flavour to his previous tracks titled Imibuzo and Ngyavuma
among others.
Kaykid-Umfanomsotho said the song is a step towards his dream of being an
international artist, rising and roaring from Gwanda.
"Through this song I seek God's grace to put his light in my career. It is my dream to
have collaboration with the likes of Blaq Diamond, Aubrey Qwana, and Nkosazana
Daughter and put our local music in the limelight.
“Seeing my song and video being played on 3Ktv was a testimony that God is
watching our daily routine and people should always remember that. I am still
receiving compliments for this song and I am humbled," he said.
The artiste was set to perform alongside Dali Nguwe hit maker Nkosazana Daughter
in a much-awaited concert at Phoenix Tshisanyama this past Saturday.
