SILOBELA –Police in the Midlands have launched a manhunt for the cattle rustlers who abandoned
their car after it had a tyre puncture during a chase with the police recently.
The cattle rustlers are on the run after they allegedly stole and slaughtered three beasts at Farm 15,
St Mark’s area under Chief Malisa in Silobela.
Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko said on June 22, the unknown suspects stole three cattle from a kraal
at Farm 15, St Mark’s area at night, slaughtered them at a nearby bush and took all the meat, leaving
the head and bones at the scene.
Police received a tip-off the following morning that a green Nissan Sedan vehicle registration
number ACS9529 was carrying suspected stolen meat.
“Police swiftly reacted, spotted the motor vehicle and followed it. The driver noticed that they were
being pursued and increased speed. After pursuing it for about 25 kilometres, the vehicle developed
a tyre puncture. The occupants then stopped the vehicle and ran away into a thick bush leaving their
vehicle idling,” said Insp. Mahoko.
Police searched the vehicle and discovered five sacks full of meat which were staffed inside the boot.
The meat weighed 361.24 kgs.
Insp. Mahoko appealed to members of the public who might have information about the owner of
the motor vehicle and suspects behind the stocktheft case.
