A 25-year-old sex starved Guruve man was on July 12 arraigned at the Bindura
Magistrate court for allegedly raping a 15-year-old girl.
The accused Honest Nyamadzawo of Date Village under Chief Chipuriro appeared before Bindura
Magistrate Amos Mubhobho facing rape charges.
He pleaded not guilty and was remanded in custody to July 26 and was advised to approach the High
Court for bail.
Prosecuting, Trace Dube said on July 4 at 1am, the complainant was sleeping in the kitchen hut with
her six-year-old brother when Nyamadzawo budged in without knocking.
He went straight to where the complainant was sleeping, covered her eyes and mouth with his hand.
He removed all his clothes before wearing a condom then removed the girl’s underclothes and
reaped her once. He then sat on her and he removed his condom and when the complainant was
about to get up he raped her again but this time without protection.
He then fled but she managed to identify him after lighting her torch. Shen then closed the door and
went back to sleep.
At around 5am, she went to her neighbour’s homestead and reported the matter to her and the two
went to Ruyamuro police base to make a report.
The complainant was referred to Guruve Hospital where she was examined by the doctor who
confirmed she had been raped.
A manhunt was launched for Nyamadzawo and was eventually arrested.
