Kadoma – What started off as a beer drink here among friends ended in tragedy when
one of them suddenly went berserk and stabbed his friend who later died on his way to
the clinic.
Police said, Munyaradzi Murumbi, (30) was at Mubai Bar at Boom Gate Shopping
Centre at Lily Farm, Kadoma, when Onisimo Muzivarwenyu (29) also known as
Mupostori started acting weirdly.
Muzivarwenyu started shouting and throwing bottles everywhere. People in the bar,
including his friend, tried to calm him down telling him that his behaviour was
unacceptable. Instead, he became wild.
He charged at Murumbi, who was drinking his beer and stabbed him with a knife once
on the chest and also on the right arm. Murumbi fell down and started bleeding.
After stabbing Murumbi, Muzivarwenyu fled from the bar and disappeared.
Murumbi was then taken to Patchway Clinic but he died on the way. The incident was
reported to Patchway Police, Kadoma Rural, and the body was taken for a post mortem.
Mashonaland West police spokesperson, Inspector Margaret Chitove, said police were
concerned about cases where people die tragically over minor issues.
She said police were still investigating the cases as Muzivarwenyu is on the run. She
urged members of the public to report to any nearest Police station if anyone has
information on the whereabouts of Muzivarwenyu.
She advised members of the public not to move around with dangerous weapons as it is
against the law and also to be mindful of the places they frequent.
