CHINHOYI – Zanu PF Deputy Secretary for Security, Tendai Chirau, says his party is
ready to contest this year’s harmonised elections.
Addressing the Press after the ruling party’s Mashonaland West Provincial Co-
ordinating Committee meeting, Chirau said only less than a month was left for people to
cast their votes.
Zanu PF, he said, has a lot to sell to the electorates unlike opposition parties that have
done nothing towards national development.
“For the past five years, our President has done wonders in terms of development, what
more if given another five year term?
“Hwange project 600 megawatts of power were added to the grid, hakuchina load-
shedding, roads rehabilitation projects, over three million families benefited through
Pfumvudza. Ndoozvinhu zvezvimwe zvakaitwa naPresident zvatinofana kuudza vanhu.
This time we should go for an uncontested victory, every party member is now a
commissar.
“We must not just win but win with a huge margin. Former VP Joice Mujuru vaihwina
neover 29 000 votes but pavaka compita last time vakaita 12 000 nyika yose zvakaoma
kuwana support wabuda muZanu PF. Zanu PF will defeat every form of opposition,”
said Chirau.
He also said that his party had distributed 4000 presidential candidate posters to each
constituency and people will see the posters all over.
In an interview, Zanu PF candidate for Hurungwe North, Pax Muringazuva, said he was
not moved by Citizens Coalition for Change CCC rally, which will be held in his
constituency at Elephants’ Walk along Harare Chirundu Highway.
“As Zanu PF, we are not moved by (Nelson) Chamisa’s rally. Our supporters will not
attend such an event, visiting Zanu PF strong holds does not guarantee support. He is
going to bus in people from urban areas for his rally to be successful, otherwise no one
from our party will attend opposition rally,” said Muringazuva.
Zanu PF agreed to use polling station-based campaign.
