Binga man found with 2 unlicensed firearms

Police in Binga, on the south eastern shore of Lake Kariba in Matabeleland North province have arrested a 22-year-old man and recovered a cache of firearms and other crime tools including cyanide and over 100 wire snares.

Madodana Muleya was picked up at Manjolo Business Centre on August 8 and found with two pistols and other crime paraphernalia stashed in a satchel that he was carrying. The firearms comprised a Blow f929 millimeter pistol loaded with a magazine containing three rounds of ammunition and an EKOL FIRAT Compact 9mm pistol loaded with a magazine loaded with seven rounds of ammunition.

Also recovered from Muleya were nine loose rounds of ammunition, two 110ml teargas injectors, a pair of handcuffs and a sjambock made of an electric cable. Also recovered in Muleya’s possession were 2kg of Cyanide, 101 wire snares and an axe. Meanwhile the police confirmed the arrest of Sipho Mafu (65) in connection with a case of poaching which occurred in the Hwange National Park on August 8.

Separately, Budiriro police are investigating the murder of Chengetai Sanyangowe whose body was found near a maize field in the high density suburb with a deep wound on his right leg and bruises on the back. In Masvingo, three suspects from Dromore village, chief Chikwanda, have been arrested for the suspected murder of 35-year-old Francis Manhendo.

Manhendo allegedly died after being assaulted with gum tree logs and strobes indiscriminately all over the body by Lawrence Manhendo (70), Thomas Ngindi (36) and Tinashe Manhendo (33) on August 8. Elsewhere, police in Centenary, Mashonaland Central are appealing for information which can assist with investigations into a robbery which occurred at a local service station August 8.

Five unknown suspects allegedly attacked and disarmed a security guard on the premises, took his service Arminus Revolver that was loaded with five rounds, an empty gun cabinet, a cellphone and Chubb safe containing US$2 465. In Gokwe, 25-year-old Wedzerai Wedzerai is being sought in connection with the murder of Shonhiwa Chikomba (36) who died on August 7 at Gokwe Hospital where he was admitted after being struck with a log at Village C football pitch following an argument over a girlfriend.
