Manicaland Star Rally Heads For Makoni South
NYAZURA-Handina Secondary School in Makoni South Constituency, Manicaland Province, is today the setting of yet another ruling Zanu PF party high-level interface with the electorate, with President Emmerson Mnangagwa set to address the star rally.
President Mnagagwa is expected to expound on the successes of the government over the past five years as he seeks for a second term in next week’s harmonised elections in which he is Zanu PF’s presidential candidate.
The rally is expected to draw over 200 000 people from the host constituency where the party is being represented by Zanu PF Manicaland political commissar and Makoni South aspiring legislator, Albert Nyakuedzwa. By mid-morning, thousands of party supporters had braved the chilly weather and gathered at the venue waiting to be addressed by President Mnangagwa among other dignitaries.
Nyakuedzwa said his constituency was raring to go and urged people to turn out in their huge numbers to vote the ruling party back into power in next week’s polls adding that the constituency and district at large had benefitted from the Second Republic’s development programmes.
“Irrigation schemes are being developed in Ward 17 covering an area of 80 hectares, in Ward 31 there is a 365 hectare scheme that is well fully furnished with all equipment and centre pivots,” he said.
In addition to the agricultural developments, Nyakuedzwa also said progress is being made in the health and education sectors.
Manicaland Province has a rich revolutionary history dating back to the days of the liberation struggle when the province became main transit corridor for gallant sons and daughters who skipped the country for Mozambique for military training.
