Top opposition CCC official sought by police
Harare (New Ziana) – Police said on Saturday newly appointed opposition Citizens Coalition for Change spokesperson (CCC), Promise Mkwananzi, was a fugitive from the law, with a pending 2020 court warrant of arrest.
In a statement, police spokesman Paul Nyathi said Mkwananzi absconded court hearings in a case in which he was accused of inciting public violence.
He entered the public domain this week when he was appointed CCC spokesman, and held a series of press conferences over the ongoing general elections.
“The Zimbabwe Republic Police confirms that Promise Daluhuhle Mkwananzi is being sought in connection with a warrant of arrest issued by Harare Magistrate Court on 22nd April 2020 for defaulting court proceedings,” Nyathi said.
He added: “Promise Dalubuhle Mkwananzi is facing incitement to commit public violence charges under Harare Central CR 2627/07/19 and Harare Public Prosecutor reference 11394/2019.”
