Disrespecting the dead


GWANDA – THE fatal accident which claimed 22 lives has left many people in a
state of shock.

Despite the number of the deceased, some people have criticised the way bodies
were transported from the accident scene to the mortuary.
Gruesome scenes showing the 22 bodies, in the open back of a lorry as they were
transported from eThandweni area near Chipangali to Bulawayo on Tuesday went
viral of social media platforms.

Many believe that transportation of the bodies in that manner amounted to inhumane
and insensitive treatment.

“Bodies just thrown into an open truck no blankets to cover them no body bags
nothing – where is the respect for the dead?” asked one concerned resident.
A Toyota Quantum with 22 passengers on board was involved in a head-on collision
with a truck along Bulawayo-Beitbridge Road.
