CHINHOYI- ONE of the survivors of a tragic road accident last Tuesday, which occurred at the
73 km peg along Harare-Chirundu Highway, is grateful that he and his family are not with their
    Maker.
The accident involved two Honda Fit vehicles and a haulage truck.
Former Chinhoyi Councillor, Tendai Msonza, had gone for a funeral in Harare together with his
wife Florence, grandchild Ethan Sheha and his brother-in-law, Golden Machila. They were
involved in the accident at Rukoba Farm around 11 am on Tuesday last week.
Msonza narrated the horror accident he went through to Telegraph news crew at his home in
    Orange Grove, Chinhoyi low-density area.
“I don’t drink beer when I am travelling. I was sober. I only heard a huge sound, after being side-
swiped by a haulage truck. My car started swerving and the vehicle was hit again on the left side
by a blue Honda Fit, which was following us.
“Nyasha from Coldstream, who was travelling to Harare was the first person to identify me and
he phoned Councillor Mukudzei Chigumbura, who advised most people in Chinhoyi.
“Mr Grocie, owner of a grocery shop situated at Chinhoyi bus terminus, was the one who took
me to Chinhoyi Provincial Hospital. I was bleeding and he bought water for me in Banket to
    drink.
“I was treated well at Chinhoyi Provincial Hospital. I need to applaud the staff at this hospital.
They did a great job. My wife and others, who I was travelling with, survived with minor
injuries. They could have been admitted at Banket Hospital but they were treated and discharged
on the same day,” explained Msonza
Pictures of the black Honda Fit, which belongs to the Chinhoyi former Councillor circulated on
most Chinhoyi social media platforms, with some suggesting no one could have survived from
    such wreckage.
Rumours around Chinhoyi had already claimed that Msonza had died.

Meanwhile, two more accidents were recorded in and around Chinhoyi area. The first one
occurred along Robert Mugabe Highway. Four Sinoa Primary School pupils, who were on the
    way to school were injured.
In the second accident, Anton Chiona, a ZETDC transition manager, was also lucky to be alive
after his vehicle smashed into a haulage truck along Harare-Chirundu Highway, just after Orange
    Grove Motel in Chinhoyi.
