HARARE – After more than a year away from the spotlight, Zimbabwean music sensation Ammara Brown recentlymade a powerful return to the stage at the Castle Lager Braai Festival held at Glamis Arena, rekindling her connection with fans and unveiling plans for a new album.

The event marked her first major public performance since giving birth to her second child, and she captivated the crowd with an electrifying performance that reminded many why she remains one of the country’s most beloved artists.

Dressed in a striking red outfit that matched her fiery comeback, Brown said the journey back to the stage was physically and emotionally demanding.

“It was really big. Like, I gave birth a few months ago and it was wild trying to get back to my body. About a month ago I started going to the gym, I had to train my voice. I do not think I have ever worked this hard to sound this good.” she said.

Performing alongside high-profile artists including Winky D, Brown held her own and made her presence felt with a confidence and energy that sparked loud cheers from the crowd.

“I remembered I am able to become this person,” she said, reflecting on her return.

Brown also opened up about her mindset during her break, emphasizing self-belief and individuality.

“You are really competing with yourself. When you get to a certain stage of life, you realise no one else can do what you do. That authenticity is what the fans love,” she added.

The singer revealed that her new album, Flaming Lily is a deeply personal project co-created with her partner, whom she met while he was in Norway. The album includes a love song inspired by their long-distance relationship and features production by Grammy-winning producer Brian Soko.

“He was like, Ammara, there is a song that I am hearing in my head and I think it is for you. We got into the studio, and it’s a beautiful love song about me and him,” said Brown.

With Flaming Lily on the horizon and a refreshed sense of purpose, Ammara Brown’s comeback is more than a return, it’s a reinvention.
