BINDURA – In a shocking incident, a 28-year-old man was arrested after police discovered human remains and a dummy pistol in his possession, which he allegedly used for criminal activities in Bindura and nearby communities.
The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) confirmed the arrest of Alfred Chinjiva, of Chipandura Park in Bindura, on February 2. He was found in possession of human skulls and a dummy pistol.
“The suspect was initially apprehended on 2 February 2026 for possession of articles of criminal use after being found with a dummy pistol at a mine in Bindura,” said the ZRP national police spokesperson, Commissioner Paul Nyathi.
Upon searching his residence, police were shocked to uncover human remains inside the house.
“Following his arrest, police searched his residence in Chipandura Park and recovered human remains, including one skull with two cuts on the back wrapped in a yellow cloth, another skull wrapped in a red cloth, a single bone wrapped in a red cloth, two buckets containing bones wrapped in green, yellow, black and blue cloths and three plastic containers containing soil mixed with suspected human bones and hair,” he said.
The discovery of these remains has stunned the Bindura community, leaving residents anxious and searching for answers. Although authorities have yet to determine the reason behind possessing these items, such findings are frequently associated with ritualistic practices or unsolved serious crimes, heightening public concern.
Police authorities have confirmed that forensic investigations are actively underway to identify the remains and unravel the circumstances leading to these mysterious deaths.
Comm Nyathi said more details will be released as investigations progress.
