MARONDERA- Ida Wekwako Old People’s Home in Marondera recently celebrated the international Mother’s Day in style after being pampered with groceries by a local gas company, Universe Gas.
Speaking at the ceremony, Universe Gas chief executive officer Jonathan Bangani highlighted that on such a special day when most people throughout the world shared gifts to honour the upkeep rendered by their beloved mothers, they found it noble to extent their hands to the elderly people at the old people’s home.
“As many people in all parts of the world are celebrating the Mothers’ Day, we have found it prudent to share the little that we have with our elderly, appreciating the great role they have played in our upkeep. On top of these groceries, we are pledging to provide them with gas on monthly basis,” Bangani said.
In an interview with Chaminuka, the administrator of the old people’s home, Rever-end Clever Matulanga commended the gesture that was exhibited by the gas compa-ny.
He said: “It is not occasionally that we receive donors here at Ida Wekwako Old Peo-ple’s Home. The goodies that were donated by these good Samaritans to this institu-tion came at a right time and will go a long way in improving the standards of living for the beneficiaries.
“All I can say is Glory be to God. We have been remembered and it is not easy to welcome such special visitors. The groceries that have been donated to us will go a long way in improving the standards of living for our elderly people here.”
