Harare, (New Ziana)- The number of flights into and out of Zimbabwe grew by 47.2 percent in the second quarter of this year, while passenger numbers also rose by 22 percent, the Zimbabwe Statistical Agency (Zimstat) has said.

In an update, Zimstat said in total, over 612 000 people used Zimbabwean airports over the three months.

“All airports reported more flights (military flights excluded) in second quarter 2025 than in the preceding quarter, resulting in an overall 47.2 percent rise,” it said.

Robert Mugabe International Airport got 6 911 flights while 4 314 flights passed through the Victoria Falls Airport during the period under review.

Air passenger traffic was up 9.73 percent between January to September and airports handled 1.82 million passengers, up from 1.6 million during the same period last year, according to Zimstat.

During the second quarter of this year, the Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport recorded 395 267 passengers, a 13.9 percent increase from 347 080 in the previous quarter.

All airports recorded increases in the number of passengers during the second quarter 2025 compared to the first quarter, resulting in an overall 22.2 percent increase.

Joshua Nqabuko Airport handled 50 367, a 16.5 percent increase from 43 217 recorded in the first quarter of this year, while at least 159 527 passengers passed through the Victoria Falls Airport, up from 107 500 the previous quarter.
