Resurgent Hwange FC made sure they have enough coal stock pile to propel their energy for the
entire match as they displayed a superb performance with an impressive 2-0 victory over
Bulawayo Chiefs during a midweek fixture at Luveve stadium on Thursday.
Early first half two goals from Courage Sibanda and new signing Pritchard Mpelele were crucial
in helping Chipangano bag three points giving their fans something to celebrate all the way back
to the mining town of Hwange.
Bulawayo Chiefs striker and goal scoring machine Obriel Chirinda had little to no chance to
break through the Hwange rear guard that was commanded by no nonsense captain Kelly
Shiandindi and centre back Elisha Zulu who gave the striker limited space on the ball.
Hwange have since gained momentum from the time they accounted for Highlanders at the
Colliery. To his delight Hwange coach Nation Dube was full of praise for his charges in in
buckling to pressure away from home.
“All the credit to the boys, big up for a sterling performance. The team is shaping up, they have
started to understand the way we want to play. We are also well prepared for the next game
against Caps United and we will plan for it accordingly,” said Dube.
The three points gained have led to Hwange swopping positions with Bulawayo Chiefs. The
miners are now 8 th on the log with 34 points while Bulawayo Chiefs dropped to 9th with 32
points from 25 rounds of play.
In another match played on Thursday, Harare giants Dynamos hopes to challenge for the
championship were dealt a major blow as they played to a goalless draw against lowly Triangle
at Gibbo Stadium. Their chances for booking a place also in top 4 were dented as they remain on
5 th position on the table with 40 points, 11 points adrift of inform log leaders Ngezi Platinum,
who outclassed Army side Black Rhinos 1-0 on Wednesday.
Action continues over this weekend with Hwange dating Caps United at the Colliery stadium.
The platinum outfits 3 rd placed Norman Mapeza’s coached side, will be locking horns with log
leaders Ngezi Platinum in a tightly contested match at Mandava stadium in Zvishavane.
