Harare, (New Ziana) -Isaiah Mupfurutsa of Simba Bhora has been elected as the new chairperson of the Premier Soccer League (PSL), marking a new chapter in the leadership of top-flight football in Zimbabwe.
Mupfurutsa secured 11 votes in a tightly contested election, beating Masimba Chihowa of Manica Diamonds, who received 4 votes, and Dumisani Sisale of FC Platinum, who garnered 1 vote.
His election follows the departure of former PSL chairman and CAPS United president Farai Jere, who chose not to seek re-election after his term expired in December last year and had opted to contest the ZIFA presidency, but was later disqualified from that race.
Mupfurutsa brings both administrative experience and modern football insight to the role. He is a former executive at Dynamos and has served as a member of the PSL Emergency Committee since 2018.
His leadership style is expected to bridge the traditional structures of Zimbabwean football with the needs of emerging clubs like Simba Bhora.
Joining Mupfurutsa in the newly elected PSL executive are Kenneth Mhlophe, who takes up the role of vice chairman, as well as Moses Maunganidze and Oscah Nduwure, who were elected as members of the Emergency Committee.
The new leadership is expected to steer the PSL through key development phases, with a focus on professionalizing the league and enhancing its commercial appeal.
