UNKNOWINGLY chatting up another man’s ex-girlfriend ended with the murder
of a 35-year-old Chiredzi man last Sunday.
Leeborn Chitsutsu of Mabila Village, Chief Chilonga, in Chiredzi died last Sunday
(February 5) around 11pm after being viciously attacked with an Okapi knife by
Tongai Ingwani, (37), of Rangani Village. This was after Ingwani spotted
Chitsutsu talking to his 25-year-old ex-girlfriend at Mutomani Business Centre,
    where the woman worked.
Ingwani, who ran away after the incident and is still at large, had gone to the
business centre to visit the woman, with whom he previously had a relationship.
He became incensed when he spotted Chitsutsu talking to the woman as the two sat
on a veranda at the business centre.
He allegedly grabbed Chitsutsu by the neck and the latter fell down. Ingwani then
produced an Okapi knife from his trouser pocket and stabbed Chitsutsu four times.
Chitsutsu broke free and ran away into the darkness with Ingwani in hot pursuit.
Ingwani then disappeared from the scene.
When Ingwani started attacking Chitsutsu, the woman ran away and locked herself
in her room. The following morning around 6am, another villager, Dennis
Mangwanda, (39), of Mugoni Village stumbled upon Chitsutsu’s body in the
vicinity of the business centre and reported the matter to the police at Chambuta
    Police Post.
Police attended the scene and took the body to Chiredzi General Hospital mortuary
for a post mortem while investigations are continuing.
Masvingo police spokesperson, Inspector Kudakwashe Dehwa, confirmed the
incident and appealed to members of the public for information on Ingwani’s
    whereabouts.
He urged people to try and resolve their differences amicably instead of resorting
to violence, which often results in the loss of life.
Meanwhile the police are appealing for information that might help locate seven-
year-old Jemias Chirambamurivo, of Chirambamurivo Village, Headman
Matsikidze, Chief Shumba, who has gone missing.
The seven-year-old boy was last seen wearing a blue school uniform, a blue sun
hat, black sandals, and was carrying a purple satchel. He is light in complexion.
He was last seen on November 30 at Matsikidze Primary School, Muchakata area,
where he was in Grade One.

Anyone with information can contact the Officer-in-Charge CID Masvingo,
Detective Chief Inspector Hazvinei Jindu, on 0773 255 250 or on 039 2264424 or
