    Nasty end to conflict over beer

    MARONDERA– A 25-year-old man from Masvosve Village, Chief Chinamhora in Goromonzi was recently nabbed and is expected to appear in court soon to face murder charges.

    Tinashe Mbambe is in trouble after he allegedly assaulted Simbarashe Bhegedhe over beer.

    The deputy police spokesperson for Mashonaland East province Assistant Inspector Misheck Denhere confirmed the tragic inciden.

    “I can confirm a murder case which was recorded in Chinamhora, Goromonzi. Tinashe Mbambe (25) has since been arrested and will appear in court in a few days’ time,” Assistant Inspector Denhere said.

    It is reported that on November 16 at night, the now deceased Bhegedhe went to Ruso Bar at Runhanga Business Centre, Domboshava, for a beer binge. He was with his friend Norman Kumamba (43) from the nearby Mungwariri Village.

    A few hours later, Mbambe, the accused joined them and all hell broke loose when the deceased attempted to drink from the accused’s beer bottle. The accused did not take it lightly and as their argument escalated, he slapped the deceased on the cheek before pushing him to the ground. When he was pushed to the ground, Bhegedhe hit his head hard on the tiled floor and became unconscious.

    Other patrons who were in the bar attempted to revive Bhegedhe by pouring water on him, but he remained unresponsive. They then transported him to Makumbe District Hospital, where he was pronounced dead upon arrival.

    His sister, Pauline, reported the sad incident at ZRP Chinamhora, leading to the arrest of the accused.
