Harare, (New Ziana) – The National Biotechnology Authority of Zimbabwe (NBA) will from Wednesday to Friday this week host an inaugural Biotechnology Expo at the University of Zimbabwe Innovation Hub.
In a statement, the NBA said the event will serve as a premier platform to showcase the latest advancements in biotechnology, promote innovation, and facilitate dialogue on the role of biotechnology in driving sustainable development.
“The Expo will bring together a diverse range of stakeholders, including representatives from academia, industry, government, and international partners, to explore the vast potential of biotechnology in addressing both national and global challenges.
“Recognising biotechnology as a key driver of economic growth, food security, health innovation, and environmental sustainability, the Expo aims to underscore its importance in advancing Zimbabwe’s Vision 2030 and the National Development Strategy,” it said.
As Zimbabwe continues to make significant strides in biotechnology research and application, particularly in the fields of agriculture, health, and industrial processes, the NBA said it remains at the forefront of promoting biotechnology education, research, and innovation across industry and various institutions of higher learning.”
“Through promoting awareness, building capacity, and fostering innovation, the NBA ensures that students, educators, and researchers are well-equipped with the knowledge and tools necessary to harness biotechnology that benefits national development.
The Biotechnology Expo 2025 promises to be a landmark event in strengthening partnerships, showcasing local innovations, and inspiring a new generation of biotechnology leaders,” it added.
