NEWLY appointed Mashonaland Central Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and
Devolution, Christopher Magomo, wants to overhaul the provincial road network in
order to improve communication among residents and the business community.
Speaking as he took over the provincial minister’s office from Senator Monicah
Mavhunga, who has been moved to the Ministry of the Veterans of Liberation
Struggle Affairs as the deputy to Ambassador Christopher Mutsvangwa, Magomo
said potholes along the Harare-Bindura road should be a thing of the past during his
    term of office.
“My task at hand is very simple there are low hanging fruits. We have projects
started by my predecessor such as the expansion of Bindura University of Science
Education in terms of infrastructure, the construction of Semwa and Dande Dams as
well as the upgrading of the Harare – Kanyemba Road, which is already under way
“I also intend to see a very neat provincial road network. We have the Harare
Bindura Road that has potholes. That should be a thing of the past. We need to
maintain that road or have it resurfaced, if possible.”
The community will have free access to his office since he believes in people’s
    voices and consultations.
“I intend to have an open door policy. Just like what our President is saying, leaving
no place and no one behind. We also have water issues to deal with, there is a
target of 35 000 boreholes and we intend to play our part,” Minister Magomo
    explained.
In terms of food security, Magomo said presidential schemes will benefit everyone
despite their political affiliations or geographical locations.
“In terms of food security, we will make sure we oversee equitable distribution. We
also have issues to do with health and education, we will look at all these facets of
    development.”
Magomo, a retired professional military cadre also called his office subordinates to
show their highest levels of loyalty, accountability and transparency as they work
    together.
He said: “I expect that from those who work in my office, we are our nation-builders
as has always been preached by His Excellency President Emmerson Mnangagwa.”
He was very happy to be accorded a ministerial post, he said.
Magomo is also Guruve South Member of Parliament and Zanu PF Mashonaland
    Central vice-chairperson.
Meanwhile, outgoing Minister Senator Monicah Mavhunga thanked President
Mnangagwa for having trusted her and previously appointing her the Provincial
Minister from 2018 to 2023, August. She was further grateful for the secondment to
the Ministry of Veterans of the Liberation Struggle Affairs, where she will deal with
issues of fellow liberation war cadres i, that also affect her.

She also wished Minister Magomo a splendid time, encouraging him to work
together with both political and traditional leaders as he fosters the province’s
    development.
