Harare, (New Ziana) – President Emmerson Mnangagwa on Wednesday commissioned a new US$15 million headquarters and stockfeed processing plant for the Davipel Group at Sunway City, describing the investment as a major boost to Zimbabwe’s agricultural value chains and manufacturing sector.

Speaking during the commissioning ceremony, President Mnangagwa said the development underscored the Government’s commitment to accelerating industrialisation, attracting investment, and promoting sustainable economic growth.

He said the investments at Sunway City are aligned with the National Development Strategy 2 (NDS-2) and Vision 2030, both of which recognise the critical role of Special Economic Zones in driving economic transformation.

“It gives me great pleasure to return to this trailblazing company following my last visit in 2019. The remarkable progress achieved since then is a testament to the company’s steadfast commitment, resilience, and unwavering patriotism. I extend my heartfelt congratulations to the founders, management, and the entire team for their dedication and outstanding achievements.

“This project complements what the Government has been advocating in its drive to attain an upper-middle-income economy by 2030. It will stimulate industrialisation, social and infrastructure development, economic growth, and stability, which are among the key pillars of NDS-2,” he said.

President Mnangagwa said Sunway City is steadily fulfilling its vision of becoming a major industrial and commercial hub that will contribute significantly to Zimbabwe’s economic development.

“Sunway City is a way to say how do we capacitate Zimbabwe as a country into a regional cargo hub of the Southern Africa Development Community and Africa at large while capturing the high literacy rates we have,” he said.

Commending the agro milling plant, President Mnangagwa said the facility stands as a powerful symbol of Zimbabwe’s expanding manufacturing sector and growing investment landscape.

“Investments like these create jobs, add value to local agricultural produce, strengthen food security, and drive economic growth. This is the kind of development that helps build a stronger economy while creating opportunities for future generations.

“May Zimbabwe continue attracting more industries that empower communities, boost local production, and drive sustainable economic growth,” he said.

The agro-processing sector continues to play a pivotal role in Zimbabwe’s manufacturing industry, with investments in modern milling facilities expected to enhance local value addition, improve productivity, and create employment opportunities across the agricultural value chain.

President Mnangagwa also stressed the importance of strengthening collaboration between Government and the private sector to promote innovation, expand production, and improve productivity for the benefit of the economy and the country’s citizens.

“I once again congratulate the proprietors of this company for the good work we have witnessed here and call on more entrepreneurs to follow this commendable example,” President Mnangagwa said.
