Zvimba- TAFIRA Secondary School is over the moon after receiving modern technological
equipment from the Ministry of Information and Communication Technology. to catch up
with the fast changing world in the education system.
The main launch was held at Chinhoyi High School on November 11 and Tafira secondary
was told to use the computers while waiting for the official hand over soon.
In an interview with Telegraph, Justice Chasakara the Deputy Head of the school said that
they were happy to be given new laptops because the computers they had at the school were
not working and those which did had outdated software.
“We had 13 Desktops and four laptops but these computers had problems of outdated
software and were not compatible for studying computer sciences. We are grateful for
receiving these 20 laptops, two printers, a projector and a drawing board as it will improve
the quality of our education,” said Chasakara.
The school was now offering computers on HEXCO for the ‘O’ levels only. The Deputy head
said that they were going to reintroduce computer science studies because they now have
compatible equipment and the teacher for the subject is already available.
Wonder Mpana one of the teachers at Tafira said that the new curriculum requires a lot of
research so it was a bit difficult to carry out those researches due to lack of computers, he
also said that the computers will even make their learners to be able to fit in Tertiary
education without showing the digital divide.
“Sekumusha tarangarirwa, from the past years we were using text books as teachers we can
now research using the computers, all we can say is that we now have an equipped library.
These computers are going to make or create opportunities for all learners nationwide despite
    their backgrounds.”
Brandon Mukomo, one of the learners at the school, said: “Tanga tave neproblem yekuti
tanga tisingakwanise kudzidza macomputers tese ka1 so tirikufara nekuti tese tave
kuzokwanisa kuita macomputers plus pataimboshandisa madesk tops zvainentsa nekuda
