18 year old faces rape charges.

An insatiable sexual appetite has landed an 18-year-old boy in the dock before Lupane Magistrate
Karen Jeffery on charges of raping his 13 year old cousin.
The 13 –year-old is from-Shabula village while the accused is from Luhumbe village Lupane.
According to State Prosecutor, Zandile Laureen Ndebele, the accused raped the complainant when
the grandmother was away
“On February 9, at around 4 pm, the complainant dismissed from school and passed by her
grandmother‘s homestead to change her clothes. At around 6 pm while the complainant was locking
her grandmother’s house to go to her homestead where she was supposed to sleep, the accused
arrived and instructed the complainant to unlock the doors.
“The accused then dragged the complainant into the house and threatened to assault her if she
screamed for help,” the court heard.
He then locked the door and pushed the girl onto a bed and raped her once.
On the next day the accused told the girl to go to school as usual and not to tell anyone about what
had transpired.
“He then left for his work place. The complainant went to school and did not disclose the matter to
anyone. At around 5pm the complainant arrived at a neighbour’s homestead who asked her where
she slept the previous day and then she disclosed the matter to her. The neighbour then
accompanied the complainant on 14 February to ZRP Lupane where she made a report and was
referred to St Luke’s Hospital for medication.”
Investigations were made which led to the arrest of the accused person.
Meanwhile, due to the gravity of the offence, the accused was remanded in custody to March 22.
The Magistrate further advised the accused to apply to the High Court for bail.
