A Kadoma man has been sentenced to 20 years in jail for stabbing Amon Tovoro (36) twice with a knife.
Aaron Mabharani (27) of plot 27 Marizani Farm, Chakari in Kadoma was found guilty of murder as defined in Section 47 of the Criminal Law {Codification and Reform} Act Chapter 9:23 at Kadoma Magistrate’s court.

The court heard that on July 13, 2023, at Mutema Business Centre Chakari, around 10:30pm, Tovoro was at a tuckshop drinking beer with other patrons. He had a car, and his driver, Moses Ndhlovu at the business centre.

The driver, Ndhlovu, decided to leave the Business Centre with their vehicle, a Toyota Tayanace. The shopkeeper, Melody Muzhuzha, then came out of the counter of the tuckshop and stopped Ndhlovu saying one of the passengers he had did not pay for snooker tokens which were played at snooker pool table games earlier.

Mabharani then followed behind Muzhuzha claiming to be her boyfriend. Tovoro then disembarked from the vehicle and said to Muzhuzha, ndingatadze kukupa mari yako here. When Tovoro was taking money from his pocket, Mabharani grabbed him and said, usada kuzviita une mari uye usanetsa mukadzi wangu.
Mabharani then withdrew a knife and stabbed Tovoro once in the abdomen, once on the upper left arm and fled the scene.

Tovoro was rushed to Kadoma General Hospital, where he received initial treatment and was referred to Parirenyatwa Hospital. While in the ambulance and at Trek garage, Kadoma, to refuel the vehicle, Tovoro started showing no signs of life.

On July 14 at around 2:30pm, Tovoro was pronounced dead. A post mortem was conducted at United Bulawayo Hospitals and the cause of death was Hypovolemic shock, stab wounds and assault.
