BINDURA – A 27-year-old man will languish in prison for 30 years after he was convicted of raping two minors in a bushy area.

The offender, Peter Kambamura, of Kabade village, under Chief Kandeya, pleaded not guilty on two counts of rape when he appeared before Bindura Magistrate Sheillah Nazombe.

He was found guilty of two counts of rape after a full trial, and he was sentenced to 30 years in prison.

The court, led by Prosecutor Edward Katsvairo, heard that on January 7, 2026, Kambamura encountered the two eight-year-old minors while they were picking wild fruits. He raped both children and threatened to kill them if they disclosed the incident to anyone.

The matter came to light on February 9, 2026, when one of the victims’ mothers noticed signs of a sexually transmitted infection and questioned her. The child revealed the ordeal, and the other victim confirmed the same events.

The cases were reported to the police, which led to Kambamura’s arrest.
