Harare (New Ziana) – Newly appointed Environment, Climate, Tourism and Hospitality Industry deputy Minister, Barbara Rwodzi has vowed to remain humble and committed to national duty as she assumes her new role.

Rwodzi, who is yet to take oath of office, was appointed by President Emerson Mnangagwa last week.

She is a Zanu PF MP for Chirumanzu constituency in the Midlands Province.

Rwodzi thanked President Mnangagwa for the show of confidence in her.

“Your consideration for appointing me to play such an important and imperative role in the government of Zimbabwe is most appreciated and let me say, I wish to continue working hard not for my personal interests but for the people of Zimbabwe to make our country a better place with happy and united people,” she said.

“My wish and prayer is to add value to the ministry and to the team.”

Rwodzi added: “(To the) people of Chirumanzu, I am still your Member of Parliament with the same love and care for you and will remain humble and committed to our work and focused on our constituency objectives.”

Rwodzi is a holder of a Masters in Business Administration Degree and Bachelor of Honours Degree in Business Studies.

She is also a businesswoman who owns a number of companies with interests in energy solutions, financial services, clothing and community development projects.
