Bikita (New Ziana) -Hundreds of Zanu PF party members attended the burial of Cde Chaitea Makuvaza at his rural home in Bikita on Saturday.
Cde Makuvaza died on Tuesday and was declared a libertarian war hero.
The late veteran joined the liberation struggle in the 1950s as a war collaborator during the ZAPU era.When ZAPU was banned, he joined Zanu in 1963.
In 1977 he was arrested by the Smith regime for sabotaging farming activities in the then Victoria District and was detained at Mutimurefu prison.
In 1980 when Zimbabwe attained its independence, Cde Makuvaza was elected councillor of ward 5 in Bikita, a position he held for 38 years.
