RESULTS of the recent Zimbabwe Vulnerability Assessment Committee (ZIMVAC) Rural Livelihoods Assessment show that most household’s heads in the province are married men.
It also shows that most of them received education at an average of 85.5 percent.
The report points out that most of the household heads are members of the apostolic sect.
The results were released in Mashonaland Central on Monday by a team of the committee currently disseminating its findings across the province.
The team further reported that of the same house heads, many of them are vaccinated against the deadly Covid-19 virus, having on average received the first two jabs.
It also reports that about 83 percent of children of the school- going age in the province are attending school, 53 percent of them having been turned away from school during the first term for failing to pay school fees.
In terms of access to quality water, the report says nearly 85 percent of the population in the province has access to good water.
It goes further to say Rushinga District has the best water access across the whole province while Muzarabani is the least covered with 71 percent.
Access to adequate domestic water has been put at 85 percent with Bindura having the highest proportion.
In terms of distances households travelled to these sources, the report says that the furthest is about 500 meters away.
The report also states that at public water points, cases of violence are still being recorded with the highest incidences happening in Mount Darwin.
In times of hygiene, the report states that Mbire District has the highest percentage of households with no toilets.
The ZIMVAC team carries out the assessment every year for the purposes of policy programming.
