CHINHOYI – PREPARATIONS for the 10th Provincial Journalism Media Awards (PJAMA) for Mashonaland West are at an advanced stage and entries have being invited for the various categories before November 23.
PJAMA are held annually and are co-ordinated by Zimbabwe Union of Journalists (JUZ) Mashonaland West Chapter in partnership with several sponsors.
It is now a decade since Mashonaland West embarked on appreciating journalists’ work through awards and this year there will also be celebrations marking the 10th anniversary of the awards.
Provincial Secretary for Zimbabwe Union of Journalists (ZUJ), Paul Pindani informed all the journalists about the awards, the categories which have been set explaining that entries are expected from only paid up members and those not yet paid up were encouraged to do so.
The awards have 14 categories, which are being sponsored by different companies and individuals.
Zimplats will be sponsoring five categories- Court and Crime, Mining, Reporter of the Year, Photo and Visual and Sports, and Arts and Entertainment.
EMA has three categories, Environmental Reporter, Consistent Environmental Reporter and Upcoming Intern Environmental Reporter.
There are two categories in health – Health reporter of the year sponsored by Chinhoyi Pharmacy and Flame Mhako Heart and other chronic diseases sponsored by Regis Mhako.

Chinhoyi Municipality is sponsoring the Municipal Reporter of the Year, while the Community Reporter of the Year award is being sponsored by Engineer Sauramba. 4H is sponsoring the Politcal Tolerance Reporter of the Year award.
The Upcoming Reporter of the Year award which was started and has been sponsored for the past nine years by Nunurai Jena, will this year be sponsored by Conrad Mupesa, the Mashonaland West chairperson of the Media Instiute of Southern Africa (MISA) Zimbabwe.
All entries should be submitted to the ZUJ national offices before November 23.
