Pastor slams greedy leaders

CHEGUTU – SEVENTH Day Adventist preacher Simbarashe Chagwinya has snubbed what he
claimed were leaders who grabbed a large share of Pfumvudza/Intwasa inputs at the expense of
other beneficiaries.
Chagwinya took advantage of beneficiaries who were waiting for inputs distribution at the
church premises in Kaguvi.
He said it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than a rich person to get into
God's Kingdom. The preacher reminded the audience of the Biblical golden rule that says: “Do
unto others as you would them do unto you.”
"Hapana munhu anotya kana kurwadziwa nekubirwa sembavha. Saka imi vatungamiri itai
zvamunoda kuti vanokuteverai vakuitireiwo, Musaba nekuti imiwo hamudi kubirwa," said
Chagwinya.
He gave a reference of last season, where he said one of the community leaders got more than
eight by 50 kg of compound D fertiliser, while other ordinary people received a bag each.
The pastor denounced all leaders, who get a lion’s share of the distribution at the experience of
the society.
"Leadership is from God, we hope that leaders will act in a Christ-like way," added Chagwinya.
His views received strong support from members present. The audience was pleased to have a
pastor, who was not afraid of shaming thieving leaders.
Chagwinya reminded leaders that the cry of people would reach God and that God would
respond in a way that would shame them.
"Remember, the Bible says, 'But many who are now first will be the last, and many who are last
will be first'.
"Mhinduro yamwari inouya nepamusungatarisire. Musazobatikana kana vanhu voramba
kutungamirwa nemi,” said the pastor.
One of the leaders Bezel Gambo, agreed with Chagwinya, saying it was really not good for one
to get a large share when others got nothing.
"You teachings are touching, sir. Nothing like that will take place here. I will be looking with an
eagle’s eye that no one will loot under the nose of beneficiaries as what happened last season,"
said Gambo.
Unfortunately no inputs were brought because Agritex and the Grain Marketing Board officials
noticed anomalies on the list sheets that needed to be rectified. Some names appeared more than
three times on the list, meaning that the said members were going to get more than others.

The beneficiaries will get the inputs on a date soon to be advised.
